Ecco Camper Concept
Futuristic all-electric RV Ecco Camper concept.
Design firm NAU has presented a concept for an Eco friendly camper that looks it might be an RV of the future.
Designed to be similar in size to a VW Camper, this vehicle provides a unique way of taking creature comforts to the great out doors. The expandable roof of the Ecco Camper integrates solar panels to supplement the power supply and the vehicle can also be charged via a standard 240 V outlet.
The front wheels are integrated totally into the vehicle’s shape and form the pivot point for the body to open and fold open the back to provide living space. Steering is provided by a combination of single steerable rear wheel and independently variable speed in the front drive wheels.
The Ecco Camper’s roof has actually been expanded to reveal the solar panels, but when it is closed, the vehicle looks teardrop shaped in design, which allows for it to sit low and also adds aerodynamics. The vehicle is said to be able to accommodate up to 5 passengers, comes with foldable beds and a built in toilet, allow you to camp on the road in style and comfort. The glass panels will also allow you to gaze upon the night sky, and even star gazing if you’re so inclined.
In most real world driving situations, the Ecco camper will go most anywhere a traditional RV can go. Consider that both begin their journeys fully fueled: the RV with its gas tanks topped up, the Ecco having had its batteries fully charged overnight through a standard 240v electrical outlet. Most RV drivers tend to stop for the night at dedicated trailer parking facilities.
